Next time you visit the groomer, have him trim around dog's mouth and butt. Second, don't bathe him so often. The smell may be his body trying to regenerate the necessary oils for his skin and hair.
My best suggestion is to buy a special shampoo for small dogs at a pet store, you could probably get a special shampoo for strengthening your dogs hair!
